Elvis Presley is one of the most iconic figures in the music industry and it’s no surprise that a number of Elvis themed slots have appeared at online casinos. WMS has now joined the party, by producing this highly distinctive looking slot. The game employs the ‘double money burst’ system where you’ll find 8 mini reels appearing in two boxes of four on the left hand side, while three more standard reels appear to the right hand side. On these reels you’ll find a variety of Elvis themed symbols, including the great man himself, his blue suede shoes, a hound dog and a teddy bear.
The double money burst system makes for a higher variance slot than usual, where you might wait a little longer for a win, but when they come, they come hard and fast. This is added to by an entertaining bonus round that includes free spins and the chance of winning added extras.
This slot has a total of 80 win lines and you’ll pay 1 credit for every 2 win lines. The number of lines is set at 80 as a default, but this can be changed to any multiple of 10 between 10 and 80. The coin amount is customizable from just 1c per 2 lines, up to a maximum of $5, making the maximum total stake for each spin a whopping $200 – making for a game that suits players of all levels.
The first two columns of the slot sees 8 independent reels showing just one symbol and every line at the slot goes through these, giving these reels an added premium. Matching symbols on these first two columns will enable a large number of wins, meaning you’ll find wins may come in larger clusters than usual. A number of symbols on the right hand side are stacked and this includes the ‘Elvis’ wild, which will certainly add to the numerous wins.
Graphically the game is excellent throughout and despite the large number of symbols on show; there is a crispness to the slot that makes it stand out. The control panel is set within a jukebox which certainly adds a nice touch to the game, while the bright lights of Vegas are seen in the background. Of course, no Elvis slot would be complete without the music and this is most definitely one of the high points of the game. A number of his hits play throughout including ‘Blue Suede Shoes’, ‘Hound Dog’ and ‘Viva Las Vegas’ and you’ll know all of the songs whether a fan or not.
During the base game you’ll win when landing 3 or more consecutive symbols from left to right on one of the 80 win lines. The Elvis wild is the highest paying symbol at the game, with three other symbols featuring the King the next in payout order. His guitar, the hound dog, the blue suede shoes and the teddy bear are next, while the playing card symbols from Jack to Ace make up the rest of the symbols.
No slot is complete without a feature – and the feature here is particularly good. There are a number of ways to land the feature but this is where it becomes a little complicated as it can seem confusing at first. Firstly the feature is landed by gaining matching symbols on mini reels 1 to 4 or mini reels 5 to 8. Secondly you can also enter the feature by landing three scatters on reels 9, 10 and 11. Finally, you can enter the feature by achieving both, and this will give you a 4,000 coin scatter pay as well as the feature, as opposed to the 40 coin scatter pay for landing the feature otherwise.
The feature itself shows starts with a jukebox style board, showing a number of boxes which will light up in turn. Each of the boxes shows either an added multiplier or extra free spins and you’ll win the reward based upon where it stops. You’ll now enter the free spins where you’ll find a different configuration from the original set up, offering even more winning opportunities.
It has to be said that this WMS designed slot does take a little getting used to at first – both with the unusual configuration and the various ways of entering the bonus round. However, stick with it, because this is a game that will most definitely grow on you. You’ll soon realize that much of the success of each spin depends on those first 2 reels and when you do get off to that good start, the excitement levels will certainly rise. The excellent visuals and sound only enhance the slot further.
Elvis Presley was born in 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi but at the age of 13 his family would relocate to Memphis, Tennessee. In 1954, he would record a song for Sun Records and RCA Victor quickly signed him to a contract in a deal arranged by his longtime manager Colonel Tom Parker. His first single was ‘Heartbreak Hotel’ which was released in 1956 and it made him an instant star, the song reaching number one in the US. A string of television appearances would follow and Elvis would quickly gain the moniker ‘The King of Rock and Roll’.
In 1956 he would make the first of a number of films, before a two year break as he entered into military service. He came back with a bang, the period following being his best commercially as he dominated the charts, before moving into making a number of Hollywood movies.
In his later career, Elvis would enjoy a long term Las Vegas residency, and feature in both an ‘Elvis’ TV special and in the first globally broadcast concert in ‘Aloha from Hawaii’.
After many years of abuse from prescription drugs his health would deteriorate and at the age of 42, in 1977, Elvis Presley passed away – although his legacy will live on long into the future.
